So, the first round of matches is pretty much complete. All the main team have made a success of the first game, some slightly more easily than others (Hello England!)
Ireland are yet to start and it’ll be interesting to see how they get on. My four picks for the semis are; India, South Africa, Australia and England. Sri Lanka and Pakistan will both have their moments but I’m not sure they’ll go all the way, Pakistan especially. Altho’ they have some great players, they’ll come unstuck when a strong team faces them. SL will do better but… dunno. Maybe home advantage will help. But I can’t see it myself.
England were awful in the field but their batting was very solid. Although it is fun to tease, Holland actually are pretty good so it was never going to be a walkover, plus England would have had the psychological issue of allowing the Dutch to win at the 2020 a couple of years back. We’re always told the aim is to reach a peak so, the game against India next will show how credible they will be. Should be fun.
The game linked below, SA vs West Indies, was fun. SA are really strong but WI have some great players these days. Darren Bravo was terrific for his knock.
Bubbling nicely. 🙂
