Death for the #DelhiGangRape Accused but is it Partial #Justice?

Interesting discussion (and a very necessary one!)

THE 50 MILLION MISSING CAMPAIGN's avatarTHE 50 MILLION MISSING CAMPAIGN BLOG ON INDIA'S FEMALE GENDERCIDE

Nine months after the brutal gang rape and assault on a college student on a bus in Delhi, on 10 September 2013, a court in India delivered a guilty verdict.  It ruled that 4 of the 6 men involved were guilty of gang rape and murder, and pronounced that it was their intent to kill the victim.  The court pointed out that disemboweling her with an iron rod, throwing her off a moving bus and trying to run her over, were tantamount to intent to kill.

On Sept 13 the court sentenced the 4 men to death under Indian law that allows capital punishment to “the rarest of rare cases.” One other man involved, the one who used the iron rod and was the most brutal of the gang, was deemed a juvenile, and hence given a lenient sentence of 3 years in a reform home in accordance with Indian…

How lucky do you need to be?

So although things are difficult just now what with struggling to find work and wondering where the wherewithal for bits and bobs will come from, I do realise that I am actually pretty lucky.

I don’t have millions of friends but the ones I do have mean a huge amount to me, more than actual family because they have never given up on me.

I have friends that I only “know” through the web but who also mean a great deal to me, they manage to convey more caring and consideration through pixels than many people in my direct experience can manage in total.

I am lucky enough to know the greatest person in the world :::waves at Jali::: 😀

Anyhoo, I just had an informal meeting with the lady from housing who helped me in dealing with the “idiot upstairs” (TM). I am hugely touched and appreciative of her keenness and efforts to get me involved, initially as a volunteer but hopefully in a paying role later if that can happen, in her department which is set up to support vulnerable adults. As I have quite a lot of background in being someone who would have used her departments services and as I appear to have the ability to connect with people in these situations, Tracey sees me as someone who can really make things happen in this task.

I’m really excited about it, it will lead to bigger and better things, I’m sure. Like I am sure I have said before, all I really want is enough to pay my bills and put a little aside for a future and I’m happy, if this can happen that’s as lucky as I would ever need to be…

So much to do, so little time…

Got quite a few chores to catch up on, laundry, reorganising my spacebox, getting quite a lot of video stuff onto this here ‘blog and update some posts from a while back that I daresay yer all on tenterhooks about. But I have Ashes to watch too… Sheesh. Also, just had a massive attachment sent with lots of useful contact stuff for learning Welsh! Huzzah!

Just for a minute…

…I thought I was dreaming. I was coming back from the Job Centre and had just come through Holyhead train station and I saw this beautiful black woman and for a moment I thought “Holy crap! Is that Jali?!” For a second I thought my heart was going to explode as I pondered whether she’d sneakily come over to Wales… cos y’know, she would! 🙂 But, alas, it was someone else. Still, just for a moment…

Run, run, run, run…

…Oh!

So D-Day is June 16th for the 5k run in Llangefni. Myself and my buddy Glyn Evans are running in support of Prostate Cancer UK under the auspices of Go Dad Run.

For more news you can check out their Facebook Page

I feel something of an accomplishment getting this far. Ten years ago I wasn’t certain I was going to be anywhere at all and slowly but surely, from being homeless pretty much hitting the bottom, I have gradually crept back to life. This has been possible due to some wonderful people, Jill who means the world to me, Glyn who has been a rock for me, Mawgan and Sue who never let me go & Rick who has been a good friend. These are my family along with Sara, Pat & family & Sarah who I have re-established contact with after absolutely yonks.

As far as getting fit goes, well since I quit smoking in August last year, I have been hitting the gym at least twice weekly on average. Just the last two weeks or so we have begun actual running outdoors in the open air where we can scare children and small animals.

The real trick is to run on a plan, my legs are gradually getting used to the demands being placed on them. And I am getting to be more mobile following runs too, so that’s cool. We hope to be able to make a good fist of things in three weeks (THREE WEEKS!) time…

Also, I have details of how to donate in a following post along with some heavy breathing videos… :::waggles eyebrows:::
